While most people believe that organizations like ours are funded by taxpayers dollars, this is not the case.  We do not receive funding from federal, state, or local governments. Without the support of individuals like you and our community, we would not be able to continue to do what we do. So whether you donate cash or goods, or give your time, your support enables us to have a positive impact in our community by providing assistance, educational opportunities and resources needed in order to ensure long-lasting safe homes for previously unwanted, abused and neglected at-risk horses.

Ask your company if they have a donation matching program. Many employers will match the donation you make to a chosen charity.  If the program does not exist, encourage them to start! Pass their details on to us so we can make contact asking to be a preferred charity.

If you own a business, ask your vendors to donate products or services.

  • Check with the Human Resources Department of your Employer (this includes retirees) to see if they offer a matching gift program for charitable contributions. You can double the amount of your gift to help the horses by participating in your employer’s matching gift program.

  • Purchase advertisement in the media for our organization so we can reach more people, of course any and all advertisements must be approved by the Executive Director and/or Board.

  • Approach the owner or manager and ask them to hold a fundraiser for Mustangs To The Rescue, where a percentage of the profits are donated to our organization. We’ll help promote the event through social media and our mailing list. We’ve had great success with these in the past. Sell raffle tickets where people can win prizes donated by local businesses. More expensive items can also be auctioned off to participants. Hotel stays and restaurant meals always raise a lot of money.

WHERE THE MONEY GOES

On average it costs $250 per month to supply proper nutrition and basic medical care per horse. There are many additional costs involved in running a rescue including costs to maintain the facility, utilities, insurance, equipment maintenance, etc. It all adds up quickly. Costs for our horses with special needs are much higher.

The money you donate is used to feed and care for the rescued horses now living at our facility. It is also used to help cover the cost of medical, dental, farrier, and body work services for the horses.

EVERY PENNY COUNTS

As a 501(c)(3)organization, we apply for grants, seek sponsors, and hold fundraisers. We also rely on donations from individuals like you. Each one of these is important to meet our expenses. We do what we can to minimize costs to truly succeed.

It doesn’t go to staffing– Mustangs To The Rescue is an all volunteer organization. We are fortunate to have a very dedicated all volunteer crew.  Our Executive Director currently volunteers her time; she is responsible for most of the horse care. Volunteer crew members take care of manure management, grooming, walking horses, and maintaining our facility and equipment.

Volunteers donate time and resources to maintain our website, take care of bookkeeping and administrative tasks, plan fundraising and educational events.

Volunteers donate time and resources to transport horses and supplies; traveling thousands of miles to secure a new life for abused, abandoned and neglected horses.

Donations also help fund educational opportunities to foster responsible horse ownership. Donations also help cover the costs of operating expenses such as gasoline, utilities, insurance, licenses, permits, federal and state reporting fees. It all adds up quickly!

And because we buy locally, the money you donate goes back into the local community; helping our local economy. How cool is that!
