Where the money goes

Monthly Funds needs to care for the horses

Monthly Fundraising Goal

$6,000.00

$4,589.00

$

Because most of the horses in our care come from abusive and/or neglected situations, on average it costs $250 per horse, per month, just to supply proper nutrition and medical care, and to cover the costs of running a Rescue like transportation, equipment repairs, office supplies, insurance, licenses, permits and corporate filling fees. It all adds up quickly.  If there is a horse with special needs, the cost could increase significantly. Every penny counts. As a 501(c) (3) organization we do what we can to minimize costs, apply for grants and search for sponsors, however we rely donations from individuals like you, charge adoption fees, and hold fund-raisers. Each one of these is important to meet our expenses. Every. Penny. Counts.

Where the money goes…

It doesn’t go to staffing - Mustangs to the Rescue is an all-volunteer organization. We are fortunate to have a very dedicated all-volunteer crew; so we don't have to pay for staffing. Our Executive Director currently volunteers her time; she is responsible for most of the horse care. Volunteers take care of the poop-scooping, grooming and training horses and maintaining our facility and equipment. Volunteers donate time and resources to host and maintain our website; take care of bookkeeping and administrative tasks, plan fundraising and educational events. Volunteers donate time and resources to transport horses and supplies; traveling thousands of miles to secure a new life for abused, abandoned and neglected horses.

Important!

You can make a difference

Make a donation to Mustangs To The Rescue today and you will help provide proper nutrition and medical care to previously unwanted, abused and neglected horses and help us have a positive impact on our community by providing assistance, educational opportunities and resources needed in order to ensure long-lasting safe, secure homes for previously unwanted, abused, neglected and at-risk horses.

Our monthly fundraising goal is around $6000, depending on the number of horses in our care, their needs and the needs of our community. The money you donate is use to feed and care for the previously abused, abandoned and neglected horses now living at our facility. The money you donate is use to help cover the cost of medical, dental, farrier and body work services the horses need so badly. The money you donate use to help fund educational opportunities to foster responsible horse ownership. The money you donate is used to help cover the costs of operating expenses like; gas and oil, utilities, insurance, licenses, permits, federal and state reporting fees, etc. It all adds up quickly. And because we buy locally, the money you donate goes back into the local community; helping our local economy. How cool is that!

Where does the money come from?

Mustangs to the Rescue receives no federal, state or local government funding; so funds for all of our expenses comes from adoption fees, fundraising events and donations. Our standard adoption fee doesn’t even come close to covering the cost of rescuing and rehabilitating most horses in our care. But if we charged an adoption fee to cover those costs, some of the horses in our care would never be affordable to loving and responsible adopters. As an example: the medical bill for one horse in our care exceeded $5000 in just a few months. Fundraising events can help generate money to help cover expenses, but fundraising events incur their own expenses, like supplies, venue fees, advertising, permits, etc., and are a drain on time and resources. Donations from individuals and business are what makes it possible for Mustangs to the Rescue
  • To help horses in need by providing positive options for both horses and their owners
  • To help our local community by providing horse owners and potential horse owners with assistance, educational opportunities and resources to ensure safe and secure homes for our equine partners
  • To assist local, state and federal agencies in managing horses and horse populations; wild or otherwise
  • To elevate the public’s view of wild horses by placing them in roles of service such as Search and Rescue, Packing Services and Mounted Patrols are the key to our success.
